A MUSIC school has celebrated its 15th anniversary with a surprise for the founder.

Julie Williams, who founded K School of Music, started out by giving singing lessons in her garage. Now the music teacher has three staff helping her run a performing arts school.

Dance instructor Shona Ashworth said staff at the K School of Music wanted to do something special to thank Julie for her years of dedication.

"Julie has run music and theatre classes for 15 years," said Shona.

"She started it off 15 years ago, giving singing lessons in her garage.

"Pupils would visit this little garage and she would help them with their technique.

"Now we have pupils of all ages from one year olds to adults learning to sing as well as dance and all sorts of other theatre skills.

"Julie has put so much into the school and we've got over 100 pupils now doing classes at Lainesmead School.

"She just mentioned in passing that it was the anniversary coming up so we decided to plan a surprise.

"She was completely surprised and had no idea what was going on when all the pupils were there and we brought out the bunch of flowers.

"We just got the kids to present them to her and she loved it."

Students at the K School of Music are busy rehearsing for their upcoming performances at the Wyvern Theatre on June 13 and 14.
