EASTER eggs have been dished out to sick children at Swindon's Great Western Hospital thanks to a firm of funeral directors.

Every year Maslin Funeral Directors of Wootton Bassett launches a charity appeal at Easter time. This year it collected 62 eggs.

"We find people very generous," said funeral director Maria Ubhie-Webb. "Workers here donate and people off the street also knock on the door wanting to donate after seeing all the posters we have placed around."

Maria, the organiser for the company's community work, delivers the eggs herself because she has so much fun doing it.

Last year the company delivered the eggs to Burton Hill House in Malmesbury, which caters for young people with severe physical and associated learning disabilities.

"We do this as a kind gesture for children every year," said Maria.

"And I always make sure I deliver the eggs myself because I love to see the children smile."
