RAIL company bosses will be quizzed by councillors on Monday.

First Great Western top brass, as well as Network Rail managers, will appear before Swindon Council's scrutiny committee to answer questions about train performance.

The councillors will look at the standard and quality of rail services in Swindon and the role rail can and should play in the town's growth and expansion.

The members of the committee will also discuss the results of a public questionnaire, which asked rail travellers their opinions on services.

Councillor Kevin Small, chairman of the scrutiny committee, said: "There has been a lot of public interest and media coverage about rail services.

"This committee has decided to review the situation to identify if improvements are needed, and how they can be made.

"I would encourage any members of the public with an interest in this issue to come to the meeting. They will have an opportunity to ask questions."

The meeting begins at 6.30pm in the Civic Offices in Euclid Street, Swindon.
