SEVERAL new food hygiene ratings have been given to restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops in Swindon.

The Food Standards Agency website has been updated with results from recent inspections by council experts.

The Redhouse Plaice chippy on Millgrove Street in Redhouse had a four-out-of-five rating awarded after an inspection on July 7. Its generally satisfactory management of food safety could be better.

The Open Door Centre and Cafe in St Barnabus Church on Cricklade Road received the full five-out-of-five following a visit on August 26, as did Coffee #1 on Canal Walk.

Wroughton Bowls Club at Barrett Way, Second Cup International on The Parade, Longs Bar on Victoria Road, The Plough on the Hill in Chiseldon, the West Swindon KFC, and Fabio's Ristorante Italiano on Bath Road each received top marks after inspectors had a look around them on August 29.

The Dolphin Fish Bar on Swindon Street in Highworth now has a 'Good' rating after inspectors marked it four out of five on August 30. The management of food safety stopped it from reaching the highest rating.

A Costa coffee shop on Havelock Square and the 14forty cafe managed by Oxford Brookes University on Welton Road in Westlea both have the highest possible ratings of 'Very Good' following an inspection on September 6.

Two more Costa branches in North Swindon District Centre - one standalone and one inside Next - received the same top marks after their inspections on August 31 and September 1.

The Check Inn on Woodland View in Wroughton impressed inspectors during their visit on August 31 - they rated it five out of five.

The most recent inspection result comes from Swindon Fish Bar on Cheney Manor Road, which was rated Very Good for food hygiene on September 13.
