AIRGUN toting yobs have hit another Swindon estate agent.

Town centre firm Ridgeway Estate Agents suffered the damage to its front window between Monday night and Tuesday morning this week.

One bullet forced a two-inch dent in the middle of a 6ft by 9ft panel of glass in the Commercial road shop.

The attack follows a spate of incidents this week.

Stratton estate agency Haart, situated in Swindon Road just off Ermin Street, has been targeted twice, with the most recent incident on Tuesday.

The shooters are believed to have taken aim as they were driven past in cars, and incidents have also happened in Grange Drive and Highworth Road.

"One of our front windows has been shot at," said Ridgeway sales manager Julian Robinson. "It must have been hit with a hell of a lot of force.

"There is a two-inch wide gap which looks rough enough to cut you if you touched it.

"It will have to be replaced otherwise the window could shatter completely.

"It's frustrating - we don't need it and as far as I know it's a one-off."

It is anticipated the cost of replacing the window at the Ridgeway estate agents will run into hundreds of pounds.

Airgun shots shave been fired during seven incidents at properties and cars in May.

Allen & Harris estate agents, in Ermin Street, was first targeted about three months ago, but came under fire again earlier this week.

Police have said these incidents are random and are unusual for Swindon.

"It is an unusual occurrence, but youths are now managing to get hold of BB (ball bearing) guns more easily on the internet," said PC Kirsty Wilson.

"They are not using them responsibly, which is upsetting the public as it is putting them at risk."

The owner of a business in Ermin Street, who did not want to be named, said: "They've been doing it for years and they'll carry on until they get caught."
