The Chippenham branch of The Salvation Army are appealing for toy donations as Christmas approaches.

The toys will be distributed to children referred to The Salvation Army by social services, to make sure no children go without presents this year.

The branch is encouraging those who wish to donate to do so before Monday, 28 November so that the toys can be packaged and sent to children before Christmas day.

Toys suitable for all ages from zero to 18 are welcome and an Amazon wish list will be published on the Chippenham branch’s Facebook page.

While the group understands that the cost of living crisis will make it harder for many to donate, they are hoping those who can will give generously.

Sandra Hall, the local Salvation Army Officer in Foghamshire, said: “We recognise that people might not be able to be as generous as they might have been in previous years because everyone is suffering a little bit.

“What people can give will be truly appreciated because there will be some people without anything.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to give some out, but we can’t do that without help from the community.”

Donation points include Sainsbury's on Bath Road, Wilkinsons and Tesco in the town centre, Goodman Warren Beck, as well as the Salvation Army's own donation centre.
