A Wiltshire dental practice has warned they are at capacity and will no longer take on NHS patients.

The Dr Michael Frain Ltd dental practise has five Wiltshire branches in Swindon, Chippenham, Melksham and Calne, as well as one in Bristol.

They have warned that none of their practices are currently taking on new NHS patients due to a workforce shortage.

They also told patients that cancellations and long waits are likely to occur for the foreseeable future.

In a popup banner on their website, they said: “Sorry none of our practices are currently taking on NHS patients.

“There is a crisis in NHS dentistry, compounded by a workforce shortage. Most of our practices are operating at 50% capacity due to these problems.

“Consequently, you are likely to experience long waits for appointments and the possibility of frequent cancellations.

“This situation is unlikely to improve in the near future and we ask you to bear with us and remain respectful to our staff at all times.

“There are advertisements for private dentistry and Invisalign in our practices. The reality is without this additional private income, it’s unlikely we would be able to provide NHS treatment at all.”

The announcement comes amid a national dentistry crisis, with nine out of ten UK practises not accepting new NHS patients.
