Search and rescue teams have spent much of Saturday in Coate Water park as the hunt for a missing man continues.

Police are looking for Brian Roberts who went missing on December 23, and his last known contact with someone was sometime between December 30, and January 3.

However, he has not been seen since.

After releasing CCTV of 59-year-old Brian Roberts' last known location, police are now appealing directly to the man himself to let his family know that he's safe if he can.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the police said: "We would like to directly appeal to Brian – if you are reading this, please let us know you are safe. Drop into a local police station, or make contact with a friend or family member."

On Saturday, search teams from Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) were out on the lake.

They were spotted looking at the banks across the whole lake.

Adrain Sawyer, chair of WILSAR, told the Adver that 34 trained volunteers were deployed, plus six from colleagues in Oxfordshire.

"We've been deploying teams on foot, by 4x4 and on our boat and sled to search areas of interest in multiple areas of Swindon," he said.

"We've also had Search Dog Buzz out, who is trained to indicate on scent."

Wiltshire Police are not asking for further volunteers for the search, but told the public to keep an eye out for Brian.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police told the Adver: "We appreciate that members of the public will want to help - at this stage, we are asking for them to be vigilant and to keep an eye out for anyone who matches the images we have issued and call us as a matter of urgency should they have any information that could help our search.

"We are not asking for any further volunteers to help take part in searches as WILSAR are providing that level of support."
