After several days of appeals, and a town-wide search, police have located missing Swindon man Brian Roberts.

Wiltshire Police first issued an appeal to the public for help finding the 59-year-old Walcot man last week after growing 'concerned for his welfare.'

The force then released subsequent further appeals in the following days, showing CCTV images of his last known whereabouts, and then renewing the appeal stating it was 'increasingly concerned'.

Over the weekend specialist teams from police and Wiltshire Search and Rescue performed searches in areas all over Swindon, including a concerted effort at Coate Water that involved boats and searches of the lake itself.

But in a statement released by Wiltshire Police on Monday, there was good news as Mr Roberts was confirmed to be safe and well after being found, ending the almost week-long search for him.

He had been missing since sometime after December 23, which was when he was last in contact with someone.

A police spokesperson said: "We are pleased to confirm that Brian Roberts, who had been reported missing from Swindon, has been found safe and well.

"Thank you for your help in sharing our appeal."
