FRENCH bulldog Marnie’s hilarious toothy smile has won her an unexpected spot in the finals of a nationwide search for Britain’s ugliest dog.

The two-year-old owned by Carli May, is one of seven pooches vying for the title.

Carli, 28, from North Swindon said she never thought Marnie would make it so far. "I only entered her in the competition after seeing it  pop up on Facebook one day and always said how ugly she is when she’s sat with her teeth out."

"My friends and family think it's funny that she's made it to the final seven."

Swindon Advertiser:

Carli got lockdown pup Marnie in 2020. "She is super loving, she loves the fuss but barks all the time! She loves to cuddle and sleep and go on walks - she would walk forever," she said.

"Her favourite treat is a pig's ear."

The winner of the contest, organised by printing firm Parrotprint, will receive a free makeover and photoshoot.

The pair won't have to wait long to find out if Marnie has taken the crown of ugliest dog because the winner is being announced next month

But truthfully, Carli doesn't fancy Marnie's chances because she only looks menacing when she sticks her teeth out and other photos of the so-called hideous hound show her looking much more photogenic

"I suppose we all have a good and a bad side. The photo I submitted was definitely an ugly one," she said.

"I don’t think she’s going to win because after looking at the other dogs, she's probably the prettiest out of all of them now."

Marnie is up against Peggy the hairless Chinese crested crossed with a pug, British bulldog Winston George, Jazz the Boston terrier Brussels griffon crossbreed, Bella the pug, Roger - dubbed an ugly boi and one-eyed blue French bulldog Milo.
