A LONG-RUNNING live music hotspot in Swindon is now under new management.

Level 3 has been hosting club nights, gigs, and other events on Commercial Road for decades. The iconic venue's latest promoter hopes to build on this reputation and make it better than ever.

Ryan Coady-McCombs moved to Swindon from America five years ago after spending 25 years working in the music industry and touring with the bands Soil and Drowning Pool.

He is now in charge of organising events and attracting musicians to Level 3.

He said: “This was something I’d had my eye on for a long time, it’s such an amazing venue.

“My music background and network of contacts put us years ahead of the game because it usually takes a while for a new venue promoter to attract national acts.

“I’ve had a lot of experience dealing with life on the road, signing contracts, and speaking with agencies to book venues. Now I’m on the other side of that so I know what bands are looking for.

“I love music, I love live performances, and there is so much talent here, so being part of Level 3 will allow me to give bands a stage where they can play and be treated professionally."

In the coming weeks, the venue will host a Valentines Masquerade Ball, the Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave tribute band AudioRage, AC/DC tribute band Hell’s Bells, Rob Zombie tribute act Robbed Zombie, sets from DJ Button Pusher, and club night Panic! At the Emo.

The previous owners of Level 3 and neighbouring pub The Rolleston Arms sold both to new tenants at the start of the year.

Ryan added: “The previous owners did a great job with the venue. I love it and have been going there for years. That room has been the source of so much joy for so long.

“People want bang for their buck so we want to make sure that when they spend money here, they leave feeling that they had a great experience.

“My roots are in metal bands, I love that music and Level 3 is known as a hard rock and metal venue.

"Without scaring anyone away, we want to open our doors to a wider variety of acts and events, so that it’s not pigeonholed and meets the appetites of all music fans in the community.”
