Scouting for Girls will be the headline act for the Minety music festival this year.

The band, whose hit singles include She’s So Lovely, Heartbeat and Elvis Ain’t Dead, will be on the Eames Laurie Main Stage on Saturday, July 1 as part of the annual festival.

A spokesperson said in a statement on February 4: "Sorry it has taken so long, but it gives us huge pleasure to announce Scouting For Girls to headline the Eames Laurie Main Stage on Saturday 1st July 2023.

“We literally cannot wait. Tickets are available and selling fast.”

“Throughout Scouting for Girls’ immensely successful career they’ve sold over two million albums, two million singles, had four Brit Award nominations, an Ivor Novello nomination, had four top ten singles, sold-out Wembley Arena, The Royal Albert Hall and most recently sold-out two nights at The London Palladium and had a series of hit singles.”

There are also plans to extend the festival by an extra day.

It will become a four-day event, and live music will be played into the morning if the licence application submitted to Wiltshire Council is approved.

The plans include extending the sale of alcohol from 11am-11:59pm to 11am-2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Live music previously played from 11:00-23:00 could now be played until 2am on the same days.

There would also be recorded music and silent discos until 2am on those days and from 2100 to 2230 on Sunday night.

Over 100 acts are to work across four different stages.

There will also be many activities for children including, rock climbing, inflatable slides, assault courses and circus skills workshops.

The event will be held in Salud's Field, The Common.

The festival spokesperson added: “The past 2 years have been an unprecedented year in so many ways.

“And like many of us, indie-pop band Scouting For Girls initially responded by surrounding themselves with sources of comfort and escapism, things from what felt like a simpler time.

“Going back to the music and culture of their childhoods in the 1980s, the band regrouped in 2020 during what should have been a summer of festivals, and the result is a joyous album of 80s covers alongside some incredible new tracks, and an optimism that 2021 could be everything that 2020 was not!

“This rang true for the group as they have just completed their 42 date UK and Ireland tour amidst the pandemic in 2021.”
