A CENTURIES-OLD farmhouse is set to be converted into a state-of-the-art studio and become the new home for a popular Swindon business.

GEL Studios, an award-winning creative agency, started working on its new premises based in South Marston at the beginning of February and is almost ready to move in.

The firm has launched a number of new services over the past two years which has meant the team has grown exponentially. As a result, a bigger and better studio was the next step ahead of its 10-year anniversary in June.

The new studio which is located just a few doors down from the agency's current base within South Marston Industrial Estate will be in a converted farmhouse.

Having nearly completed its B-corp certification, GEL Studios has planned the development to make it as sustainable as possible, using local tradespeople, environmentally friendly materials and installing efficient energy systems.

It has worked with local workplace interior designer, Debbie Watts, from Ashlar-ID to repurpose the historic building and turn it into a creative hub for the team, its clients and the community.

Managing director Graeme Leighfield said: “Swindon has been GEL Studios' home for 10 years this summer. We can’t wait to open our state-of-the-art studios and continue inspiring change through creativity.

"As our studio, team and clients grow, our commitment to do good for our local community grows too. While many businesses look to downsize or close their offices completely, we’re committed to playing an active part in Swindon’s community for years to come.”

Ashlar-ID managing director Debbie Watts added: "Thanks to the power of LinkedIn and recommendations from local businesses, I was approached by Graeme to submit a proposal for the design of GEL Studios' new offices. Having just finished a project in Croydon it was fabulous to get the opportunity to work locally.

"I was delighted when I got the call, and I swiftly provided a design solution that matched his vision of collaboration and well-being. We are very excited to see it come to life.

"Ashlar-ID are passionate about our local business community and so working with Graeme who shares the same views is wonderful."
