Residents were evacuated after a 'suspected grenade' was found near a Wiltshire supermarket.
Wiltshire Police closed Nelson Road and Kivel Court in Salisbury around 2.30 pm on Monday, March 6, and locals were asked to avoid the area.
People were evacuated from their homes and asked to shelter under a nearby bridge while police dealt with the potential explosive.
Working nearby, electricians Will Brignell and Kieran Claridge, were asked to stand under the bridge away from the suspected grenade.
Mr Brignell told the Salisbury Journal: "It was quite cool to be fair, we and all of the residents were sent to go and stand under the bridge"
Mr Claridge added: "It's definitely been an interesting day, get to work and they fish out a grenade"
A number of police vehicles and officers were sent to the scene near Waitrose. Army vehicles were also spotted by residents.
On Twitter, Wiltshire Police said: "A cordon has been put in place near to Kivel Court, Salisbury, following the discovery of a suspected grenade. Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists are currently at the scene and will be destroying the item. Please avoid the area and respect the cordons."
It is understood that the police cordon was lifted around 3.30pm.
