A charity set up in memory of an 11-year-old boy who loved sport is one of 30 to benefit from a nationwide prize draw that will see one lucky winner visit the Paris Olympics next year with Team GB.

The Sporting Chance Prize Draw, which closes on March 31, is a not-for-profit organisation that brings together the sporting community and charities across the UK.

Every penny of the £10 entry goes to goes to charities including Doing it for Dan, named for Daniel Climance, who died in an accident in Purton eight years ago. It helps young people achieve their sporting dreams.

The youngster played football for Wootton Bassett U11s and had won his second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

His mum Helen Hancock said: "As a tiny charity this is a brilliant opportunity for us to raise funds and awareness.

"£A lot of the prizes on offer are ‘money can’t buy’ experiences and by choosing to support Doing it for Dan when you enter the draw, 100 per cent of the money you give will go directly to us - ensuring that we can continue to support young people engage in sport in our local area.”

Over the past six years it has provided grants totalling more than £100,000 to over 200 young people and organisations in the area for sports equipment, kit, and club memberships.

Prizes include skiing weekends, Henley regatta hospitality tickets and a visit to your school from a GB athlete.

The draw's founder, Simon Jacot said “Our not-for-profit platform was set up to help support small, life-changing charities like Doing it for Dan. Every penny raised goes to our charity partners.”.

The Draw closes this Friday at noon. Visit sportingchanceprizedraw.com/charity/doing-it-for-dan for details.
