A PUB in Ampney Crucis has been shortlisted for the National Pub and Bar of the Year 2023.

The Crown at Ampney Brook has been named the one of the best pubs in the South West of England.

This 16th century inn is located off the A417 in Ampney Crucis next to Wild Thyme & Honey and opposite the Cotswold Reindeer herd.

They have a seasonal, farm-to-table menu which focuses on serving top quality meats, fish and vegetables which sourced as locally as possible.

Chefs cook up heart dishes on the open copper kitchen such as ribeye steaks on a Robata Grill.

Six other establishments in the south west have also been nominated:

•    Gloucestershire, The Crown at Ampney Brook
•    Cornwall, The Driftwood Spars
•    Dorset, The Langton Arms

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine which runs the awards, said: “We were overwhelmed by the level and quality of entries this year.

“It just goes to show what magnificent work is going on across the UK hospitality sector.

"With outrageous energy costs, recruitment shortages and a punishing taxation system, these businesses are once again facing tough times.

"Now, more than ever, it’s vital that people support their local pubs and bars.

"So, ahead of the long Easter weekend, why not check out the finest in your county?”

The nominated pubs will be officially crowned at a red carpet celebration in London in June, where 15 Regional Winners will also be announced, as well as the esteemed accolade – the overall National Pub & Bar of the Year.

Last year the National Pub & Bar of the Year award 2022 was won by The Frogmill in Cheltenham.
