QUEUES caused by a crash on the M4 are starting to affect other major roads in the area.

Emergency services responded to a crash on the motorway between Swindon and Hungerford around 8am on Wednesday morning.

National Highways later confirmed two lanes had been closed following the incident, and that motorists should expect extensive delays.

The roads organisation later confirmed that delays of up to an hour were expected with queues reaching 7 miles in length.

Google Maps shows that some of the traffic is now reaching as far back as the Junction 15 roundabout, with the A419, with queues even stretching onto the Swindon A-road itself.

Wiltshire Police and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have been asked for further information as it is not yet known how many vehicles might be involved or if anyone has been injured.

It is also not known at this time how long delays might be expected as emergency services continue to work at the scene.
