A fashion event will raise money for mental health awareness in memory of a young Swindon boy who took his own life.

Euan Schaub died on March 21, a month before what would have been his 16th birthday, and his funeral was held in April.

The talented teenager's passion for fashion led to more than one appearance modelling on the runway at London Fashion Week and photographing other models at local events in Swindon.

His family and friends are now organising an event based around his lifelong love that will go to the non-profit organisation Young Minds, which raises money for mental health charities.

Julie Smith, who knew Euan, is organising the event and has been overwhelmed by the amount of support from the Swindon community.

She said: "The people and businesses of Swindon have been marvellous and so kind, we've already had 50 raffle prizes donated.

"Euan was very gentle and careful in his nature and he always wanted to help.

"He loved modelling and enjoyed taking up photography.

"At an event on March 4, which was the last time I saw him, he was fantastic.

"He gelled with all the other models and photographers, he helped his sister iron a dress and helped me prepare all the food.

"We thought this summer's event would be a good way to remember him."

Euan had severe ADHD and seemed to have an uncanny knack for anything he tried his hand at, whether it was singing, playing musical instruments, modelling, fundraising, volunteering, skateboarding, cycling, or athletics.

He appeared on the runway at London Fashion Week more than once, earned a diamond Blue Peter badge, took part in Threshold's Big Sleep Out four times, and acted as a young carer for his mum Jemma Collins, who cared for him in turn.

Jemma previously told the Adver: "He was a big part of all our lives and a much-loved nephew, brother, son, and grandson.

"Euan was handsome, talented, kind, ambitious, and curious about everything. He had already built up a little legacy and was full of life, so [his death] was such a shock."

The Fashion Event in memory of Euan Schaub will be held at the Doubletree Hilton on July 1 from 4pm to 8.30pm. Guests are asked to wear something yellow, which is the colour associated with Young Minds UK.
