A DRIVER who had not passed his driving test was caught in Swindon for a bizarre reason and has had their car seized.
Police stopped the driver who had made the 31.2 mile, 40-minute, trip from Berkshire to Swindon on Cricklade Road on May 4.
After being pulled over, the motorist in question told officers from Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) that they had made the trip across counties to the town to collect fish.
But after officers carried out further checks they discovered that the driver had not passed a driving test and had been operating a car for the last eight years on just a provisional license.
As a result, the driver was reported, and the car was seized.
The incident was shared on the Wiltshire Specialist Ops Twitter page, which covers both the county's RPU and the armed response teams.
The Tweet said: "RPU stopped this driver from Berkshire on Cricklade Road, Swindon.
"He told us he had come to collect fish. There was definitely something fishy about his driving licence as he had been driving on his provisional for 8 years."
