Food hygiene inspectors were less than impressed when they paid a visit to the Swindon Designer Outlet at the end of April.

A van serving coffee and crepes situated outside the popular shopping centre has received a food hygiene score of two out of five.

Maya's Cafe Bar at the Great Western Outlet Village on Kemble Drive, Rodbourne, was given the score after assessment on Thursday, April 27.

Originally from Oxford, the vendor offers a variety of coffees and crepes.

The Food Standards Agency's report is adjudged on three separate criteria which combine to award the final overall rating.

And it is the cleanliness and condition of the facilities where the vendor fell short in the inspection, with the report stating improvement was necessary.

With regard to the hygienic handling of food, which includes preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, Maya’s Café Bar was rated as being good.

The management of food safety, which regards having a system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, was deemed to be generally satisfactory.

The food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future. This includes having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Maya’s Café Bar has yet to respond to the Adver's approach for comment.
