A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on a major Wiltshire road.

The rider, a man in his 60s, was involved in a collision with a car on the A420 near Allington, just outside Chippenham, at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, May 31.

He was subsequently rushed to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life changing.

Police arrived on the scene and closed the busy road while recovery of the vehicles was carried out.

The road has since reopened, and no arrests were made following the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 3.45pm yesterday (May 31) we responded to a two vehicle RTC between a car and a motorcycle on the A420 near Allington.

“The rider, a man in his 60s, suffered serious injuries which are not thought to be life-changing and was taken to hospital.

“The road was closed to allow for recovery and has since reopened.

“No arrests were made.”
