One of the world's most famous aerobatic display teams will soar over parts of Wiltshire today as part of a national fly past.

The Red Arrows were formed in 1964 and act as the face of the Royal Air Force, representing the speed, agility and precision of the organisation.

Stationed at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, the team is made up of pilots, engineers and essential support staff with frontline, operational experience.

The planes themselves are Hawk fast jets which have modified engines to enable smoke to be emitted.

Coloured dye is then mixed with the diesel to produce red, white or blue smoke.

On Friday, June 23, they will fly over Wiltshire as part of their national fly past journey from Lincolnshire to Exeter.

They will enter Wiltshire from the Newbury direction, flying over Cold Ash at approximately 3.34pm before moving onto Ogbourne St George at 3.37pm.

The Red Arrows will then soar across Bradford-on-Avon at 3.40pm as they make their way into Somerset and Dorset towards their final destination.
