Two men have been found guilty of involvement in a Swindon drug dealing operation after one of the town’s “largest ever” drug raids.

25-year-old Callum Thorn, of Kingsham Road in Chichester, and 31-year-old Benjamin Danso-Obeng, of Acorn Way in Hardwicke, were both found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine on Friday, June 23.

Five kilograms of cocaine and heroin was recovered by police at the Lok and Store facility in Kembrey Park, on February 9, 2022, one of the largest ever quantities found in Swindon.

The court heard that Danso-Obeng had used his business importing noodles from Holland as a cover for illegal dealing and kept the drugs in the storage facility.

Thorn was also found in possession of an extendable baton, a starting pistol and ammunition, and £1,050 cash.

On May 5, 2022, police further arrested Thorn for possessing £3,500 worth of cash and £8,000 worth of Class A drugs.

He was also found guilty of two counts of possessing criminal property, possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and possession of an offensive weapon, at Swindon Crown Court.

Danso-Obeng was additionally found guilty of two counts of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and possession of criminal property.

The pair have been remanded in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Angela Shipp, the senior investigating officer in the case, said: “I welcome today’s verdict which has come as a result of a significant operation undertaken by the Serious and Organised Crime Unit.

"I would like to thank the patience and time that the jury spent in hearing the evidence in this case presented.

"Criminals such as Callum Thorn and Benjamin Danso-Obeng who deal drugs in our communities cause significant harm and this police operation to disrupt their criminality has taken considerable efforts by the investigation team and for this I would like to thank them for their diligence and hard work.

"We will continue to target serious and organised crime in Wiltshire and pursue those who carry weapons, deal in drugs and exploit vulnerable people.”

The pair are due to be sentenced although a date is yet to be set.

Before the trial, Swindon residents Laura Taylor, 33, of Frank Warmin Court, and 35-year-old Jordan Starr, of Ermin Street, pleaded guilty to drugs charges in relation to this case.

During the police investigation one kilogram of cocaine and 500g of heroin were found in a safe at Starr’s home address.
