A Swindon photographer whose shots have featured on television has opened up about her hobby and the best places in town to snap.

Rimpy Sharma has lived in Tadpole Garden Village since July 2017 after making the move from Oxford.

She soon developed a keen interest in photography while out walking during the Covid pandemic.

Rimpy has since seen her work featured on television and is thankful for the chance to change her life through photography.

“During the strict lockdown days of coronavirus, I started to admire and connect with nature more and more,” she said.

“I saw my photography as a way to release my interests more as it was a really lonely time back then.

“It is like a therapy to me and I really enjoy it so much as it gives me lots of positive vibes as I don’t need anyone’s company while I am out with the camera.”

The 47-year-old also attributes her passion for the craft to the nature around where she lives, praising the unique wildlife at Tadpole Garden Village.

“As soon as I moved here, my interest in nature blossomed as the area is surrounded with charming wildlife and landscapes,” said Rimpy.

“I began to spend more time with this and my interests of nature and photography blended together once the pandemic hit."

Rimpy began to make a name for herself with her photos, and featured on Alan Titchmarsh's 'Love Your Garden’ on two separate occasions.

“I started to post my photos on Instagram as well as Facebook groups and I was shocked to receive such a great response from people,” she said.

“I was really pleased to feature on television because I thought who would take mine but to my surprise, two of my pictures were chosen.

“They showed my photos of geese and bluebells. It was really surreal seeing my work on the screen but it made me feel so proud.”

The Swindon resident uses a SLR Canon 90D camera which costs £1000 with a further £600 for the lens but believes that it makes all the difference.

“It was a great investment because it has improved the quality of the photos, especially landscape,” added Rimpy.

“You cannot do justice to the wildlife when you do not have the professional equipment so I am glad I chose to buy the camera.

“I am always on the lookout for the next photo.”
