The following cases were heard in Swindon’s courts this week.

SOUTH MARSTON: Cristina O’Dea, of Old Vicarage Lane, has lost her licence after drink driving.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan Juke along Queens Drive on February 28 after consuming so much alcohol that, when tested, she had 178  milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

This is more than double the legal limit.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 16 months, fined £300, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £120 to fund victim services.

LIDEN: Kevin White, of Matley Moor, has been sentenced for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour that was likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened on February 5, and was fined £136 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs along with £54 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Daniel Clark, of Bee Orchard Way in Norwich, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 21-year-old admitted to driving a Ford Focus along Junction 15 of the M4 on August 13 after consuming so much alcohol that, when breathalysed, he had 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 16 months, fined £300, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £120 to fund victim services.

WALCOT: Daniel Grigore, of Caversham Close, has been sentenced for driving offences.

The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a white Ford Transit along Upham Road on August 12 without a valid licence or insurance policy, and after consuming so much alcohol that – when breathalysed – he had 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

This is more than double the legal drink drive limit.

He has been banned from driving for 24 months and received a community order that requires him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

The defendant must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £114 to fund victim services.

STRATTON: Matthew Brown, of Ermin Street, has been sentenced for assaults.

The 36-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to beating two police constables in Swindon on August 15.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out up to 10 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £100 in compensation to each of his victims.

SALISBURY: Helena Wilson, of Catherine Street, has been sentenced for a highways offence.

The 19-year-old drove a Mini along Fisherton Street on April 17, 2022, without having a valid insurance policy in place.

She received a £120 fine, six penalty points on her driving licence, and must pay £85 in court costs as well as £34 to fund victim services.

TROWBRIDGE: Benjamin Mears, of Francis Street, failed to provide a specimen to police for analysis.

The 40-year-old admitted to not providing a blood sample to officers after being suspected of having driven a vehicle on July 30.

He has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £200, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

SALISBURY: Stephen Dickel, of Westwood Road in Salisbury, has been fined thousands of pounds for illegally dealing scrap metal.

The 39-year-old carried on business as a scrap metal dealer when not authorised by a licence between March 21 and May 4, 2020, then failed without reasonable excuse to comply with a requirement from an authorised officer of a regulation authority, namely an authorised officer, to produce your authority or your employer's authority to transport controlled waste between March 9 and 24, 2022.

He received fines totalling £2,000 and must pay £3,361.58 in court costs as well as £190 to fund victim services.
