Swindon residents have been warned by the police to be extra vigilant after a recent spate of car break-ins across the town.
The vehicle interference has mainly taken place across the Swindon and Highworth area with individuals trying car door handles throughout the early hours of the night before gaining entry and taking the items from within.
Police have advised that Swindon vehicle owners in the town should keep their vehicle locked with windows shut and the keys secure.
They have also advised for vehicles to be parked in a locked garage or in well-lit areas and in clear view of any houses and CCTV cameras.
Valuables and tools should not be left inside the vehicle.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are urging vehicle owners to be extra vigilant following several reports of theft from vehicles and vehicle interference.
“We are encouraging members of public to report each incident, if someone has attempted to gain entry to your vehicle, this is still a crime that requires an investigation.
“Please report theft from vehicles/vehicle interference by calling us on 101 or reporting online via our website.”
