A man was hit by a truck during a crash that took place on the A350 near Junction 17 of the M4.

The crash, which caused the road to close, happened on Wednesday afternoon. The pedestrian only suffered minor injuries.

An air ambulance as well as two land ambulances attended the scene.

Google Maps shows that the incident took place just north of Chippenham Morrisons superstore.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We responded to reports of a crash involving a truck and a pedestrian on the A350 near the Kingston St Michael crossroads just after 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).

"A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be physically life changing or life threatening."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) added: “We were called at 15:41hrs on Wednesday 27 September to a traffic incident on the A350 near Chippenham.

"We sent two air ambulances, a responding officer, a double-crewed land ambulance and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”

The road reopened just after 5pm.

Traffic on the M4 had built up around Junction 17 as a result of the collision but had returned back to normal along both the M4 and the A350 by around 7pm.

Traffic on the A350 is expected to be bad all week, as roadworks are also in place.
