An unusual-looking car wash promising to be the first of its kind in the UK is set to open in Wiltshire this week.

The Coped Hall site in Royal Wootton Bassett has been a hotspot for development for the town, with a new Lidl and care home also moving into the site next to Aldi.

But Carbana’s car wash, with its slanted structure, is undoubtedly the most unusual-looking development to come to the town.

“Carbana started based on the belief that car washes in the UK could be much better,” explained Wayne Munnelly, former managing director of IMO Car Wash Group.

"We want to professionalise car cleaning in the UK with a high quality, technology-driven, eco-friendly car washing service.

“Royal Wootton Bassett is our first location.

“We will also be starting the build on our second site in Northamptonshire, and eventually our plan is to roll this across the UK and have 100 locations,” he added.

But Carbana’s unusual design has been causing a buzz among intrigued residents who have driven past the new car wash located next to Aldi on Swindon Road.

“The design of the building is different,” Mr Munnelly explained. "We wanted to stand out from the crowd and make car washing different in more ways than one.

“Our intention was to design a car wash that shifts the boundaries of what is logical, and provides something eccentric.

“We bravely played around with the laws of physics and deconstructed the classical square shape, and we also arranged its structural elements in new ways.

“Our TERTIS system is outside the box and bold. One truly cannot miss it,” he added.

The cleaning centre is not just for cars though, as it will include a four-bay self-serve car wash, a dog wash, and a self-use laundromat which includes two washing machines and a large dryer.

Founder and CEO, Simon Moxon, says many UK car washes were in a deplorable state, with little emphasis on environmental issues and poor compliance with environmental laws.

He says his new business will include a modern, eco-friendly design, by using recyclable stainless steel for the main structure, as well as offering staff competitive wages, performance bonuses, and a safe working environment.

Royal Wootton Bassett’s new eco car wash will open to the public on Friday, October 13.

The town mayor, Councillor Eve Silvester, will cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, giving the new business her official seal of approval.
