HOLY Cross Primary School is 'delighted' after receiving a good rating in all categories following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The school was formerly rated as requiring improvement following inspections in 2017 and 2019, but inspectors noticed a significant improvement since then.

In the report, a spokesperson for the education regulator praised the school.

They said: "Leaders provide clear vision and set high expectations. They ensure consistency across the school. Leaders’ focus on the educational outcomes of pupils is relentless. They want every child to be successful

“Pupils are proud and happy to come to Holy Cross Catholic Primary School. They talk about how the school’s values support them to be kind, and respectful and show tolerance. They know that all people should be treated equally, regardless of differences."

Headteacher Sam Dowdeswell explained that a lot of hard work had gone into making the improvement.

"As a headteacher, I fully understand the importance of having a strong team and I genuinely believe I have one of the very best! Every member of staff goes over and above to create exciting learning opportunities for the children and all are committed to providing a first-class education that is engaging, inspiring and ambitious."

She added: "As a multicultural school, we recognise the importance of every child feeling they are a valued member of a happy, vibrant community.  Our children have opportunities to live out our mission of 'Learn, Love, Grow, Live' so that they succeed as happy and ambitious individuals in a community where they have a voice and a sense of belonging.

"I fully believe that alongside a great curriculum, for learning to be fully effective there needs to be outstanding behaviour built around a solid culture of respect and dignity. This is an absolute strength of our school and makes it a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of."

In addition, 95 per cent of parents told Ofsted that they would recommend the school to others.

""e are so thankful to our parents for the support they show to the school. We do have limited spaces across some year groups and for those year groups that are full, we have a waiting list.

"Should you wish for your child to benefit from attending our lovely school, please contact our friendly office team who will be more than happy to arrange a visit. We look forward to meeting you and showing you all the amazing things we offer."
