A teenager has been charged with carrying an offensive weapon after police were alerted to a “planned disorder” in a Wiltshire town.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was detained by officers in Royal Wootton Bassett on Monday, November 6, after intelligence of a planned disorder between two groups of young people was received.

He was allegedly found to be carrying a concealed weapon and was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The teenager has now been bailed with conditions not to enter Royal Wootton Bassett, and has been handed a curfew while living at his address in Trowbridge.

Police added that they are continuing to work proactively and collaborating with local schools and Children’s Services to prevent further incidents and safeguard those involved.
