A Wiltshire man has been sentenced for speeding - but avoided receiving points on his licence for an unusual reason.
Matthew Withers, of Upper Westwood in Bradford on Avon appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this month.
The 56-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Honda along Lower Westwood Road at more than 20mph on June 14, 2023.
He received a £500 fine and must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £200 to fund victim services.
No points were added to his driving licence because his reaction to a back spasm led to the commission of this offence.
Usually, speeding drivers receive at least three penalty points on their driving licence if convicted, and have to pay a fine of at least £100.
Building up 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years is likely to lead to a driving disqualification.
