The damage done to a canal boat that caught fire in Wiltshire overnight has been revealed with new photographs.
On Saturday night emergency services raced to the Kennet and Avon canal in Devizes after reports that a 60-foot long barge was in flames.
Firefighters battled long into the night to extinguish the fire but the boat was left submerged and completely destroyed.
New photos show the level of destruction enacted on the barge which remains in the canal on Sunday morning.
Several police officers could be seen guarding the boat at the scene of the blaze while the boat was still letting out smoke over 12 hours on from the fire.
The barge itself was still visible the morning after but had been completely burnt out from the blaze which is not thought to have had any casualties.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We are not aware of any casualties and while the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances at this time.
“Please consider alternative routes and expect delays.”
A cordon on London Road which was enacted by police officers on Saturday night currently remains in place between Brickley Lane and the junction of Quakers Road.
