POUNDLAND has shared more details on what people can expect ahead of it taking over a closed Wilko store in Swindon

The firm confirmed that the town centre Wilko store on The Parade would be reopening on December 9, making it the second Poundland store in the area.

It is part of plans from the budget retailer to open a number of former Wilko stores that have sat empty for several weeks after its collapse.

The addition of the Swindon Wilko brings the total number of former Wilko stores that will reopen as branches of Poundland to 63.

In a statement, the company shared more information about what the new store will feature,

it said: "All new Poundland stores – both Wilko and non-Wilko units – will feature the very latest Pepco family clothing that has rolled out to 560 of Poundland’s existing UK and Ireland stores.

"The clothing ranges feature new ranges from lifestyle and athleisure brands such as Cardio Bunny and Bekkin and a significant increase in the space dedicated to baby and kidswear."

Poundland continues to prioritise former Wilko colleagues for roles in Poundland and encourages them to follow Poundland’s posts on LinkedIn or visit www.poundlandcareers.co.uk to find details of open roles and how to apply for them.

To date, Poundland has now made offers of employment to over 800 former Wilko colleagues.
