The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court this week.

RODBOURNE: Aaron Rogers, of Northern Road, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man in Swindon on March 23, 2023.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months as well as up to 45 rehab activity days.

The defendant must also pay £114 to fund victim services.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Koolio Johansen, of Ruskin Road in Eastleigh, Hampshire, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man in Royal Wootton Bassett on July 7. He must pay a £530 fine as well as £85 in court costs plus £212 to fund victim services.

RODBOURNE CHENEY: Peter McKenzie, of Whitby Grove, has been sentenced for dangerous driving.

The 50-year-old was found guilty of driving a Volvo Skip Loader dangerously on the A4361 in Broad Hinton on February 16, 2023.

He has been banned from driving for 12 months and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work as well as pay £420 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Edward Dixson, of Radstock Avenue, has been sentenced for violent offences.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and damaging her property on May 17, 2023, and indicated pleas of guilty to common assault of a police officer by biting and kicking him on the same date, and to causing his female victim actual bodily harm by headbutting her on May 8, 2023.

He has been jailed for four months and ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the police officer.

SWINDON: Jordan Davis, of Holton Street, has been sentenced for having weapons in public.

The 26-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to having a BB gun and machete on him while near Thamesdown Drive in Swindon on September 19, 2021.

He received a four-month prison sentence which has been suspended for 12 months.

The defendant must carry out 240 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, pay £128 to fund victim services, and have his blade and imitation firearm taken away.

CHIPPENHAM: Cal Buttolph, of Alexandra Drive in London, has been sentenced for causing actual bodily harm.

The 27-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting a man in Chippenham on December 23, 2022.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, attend up to 12 rehabilitation activity days, and pay £85 in court costs as well as £114 to fund victim services.

MOREDON: Ryan Croke, of Whitworth Road, has been sentenced for possessing a knife in public.

The 42-year-old pleaded not guilty to two counts but was later found guilty of both. They related to an offence committed on Penhill Drive on July 5, 2022.

Due to the serious nature of the offence and his previous record for similar offences, he received a six-month prison sentence which has been suspended for 12 months.

The defendant must also attend up to 30 rehabilitation activity days, have the knife removed from his possession, and pay £695 in court costs plus £154 to fund victim services.

The court documents note: “The court is of the opinion that there are exceptional circumstances which relate to any of the offences and the offender, and justify not imposing a mandatory sentence. You have taken steps towards rehabilitation, positive steps taking medication, working[with your] GP and others, and your previous offence was 18 years ago.”
