A man in his 40s has been arrested after he was spotted carrying a knife and making threats to members of the public.

Wiltshire Police were called to the incident at around 11am on Wednesday, December 6, after a member of the public alerted them to a man threatening people with a knife on Spring Close in Swindon.

Officers attending the scene quickly found the suspect at a nearby address and arrested him on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray.

Police said that they located the knife which was thought to be the weapon he had used located in a room in the house.

Wiltshire Police have been quick to emphasise that behaviour of this kind will not be tolerated.

“There can be no place for knives or bladed articles of any kind on our streets,” said Acting Inspector Tristan Winter.

“We are working day and night to ensure that the carrying of bladed weapons in our communities is considered unacceptable.”
