Wiltshire Police have released images of items stolen from Malmesbury Abbey.

Historical items have been stolen from  Malmebsury Abbey in a burglary in which they were stolen from display cabinets as well and the abbey’s safe.

The items were stolen on Thursday, November 16. Malmesbury Police posted on Facebook on Friday, December 8 urging for members of the public to help in their enquiries into the missing items.

Investigating officer PC Jo Phelps said: “These are irreplaceable items of significant historical importance to the Abbey and the local Malmesbury community and it’s such a shame that someone has decided to steal them.

“They are part of the heritage of the Abbey dating back in some cases hundreds of years.

“If anyone has any knowledge of their whereabouts, or if you have seen them in passing or been approached about them, then please get in touch with us.

“I would also like to directly appeal to the people who took them to do the right thing and return them.”

The public have been encouraged to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 54230121403 if you know any information regarding the burglary.
