Swindon Town are set to host Wrexham on Boxing Day but it remains unclear whether the Welsh club’s Hollywood owners will be making the trip too.

Since Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the Welsh club February 2021, once unfashionable Wrexham have been at the centre of the media’s attention - even becoming the subject of a documentary.

The Disney Plus series is already into its second season and gives an insight into the club as well as its ultra-famous owners.

And Town fans have been left wondering whether the pair will be visiting Wiltshire over Christmas.

Both men have attended games at the Racecourse Ground regularly since joining the club, with celebrity friends such as Hugh Jackman, Will Ferrell and Charlie Day also visiting.

Last year Wrexham faced off against Solihull Moors and although Reynolds promoted the match on Twitter, he did not attend.

He tweeted: “BIG MATCH. Wanna watch Wrexham AFC battle Solihull day after Christmas?

Reynolds then later corrected himself, adding the day’s official name while also reminding his followers that the sport is named football, not soccer.

“It’s actually called, Boxing Day. And football. It’s called football,” he added.

Wrexham won the festive game with a 5-0 thumping over their Birmingham opponents, which Reynolds and McElhenney enjoyed with both tweeting their reactions after the game.

But seems unlikely that either will make the trip to the County Ground on Boxing Day given both may well be spending time with their families over the Atlantic Ocean at Christmas.

Reynolds is also currently filming the third instalment of his comic book action film series Deadpool after a break in production.

Filming had halted for a four-month suspension due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but Deadpool 3 headed back into production just before Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 23.

McElhenney himself recently teamed up with Reynolds to recreate Wham!’s Last Christmas album cover in the build-up to Christmas.

The League Two clash kicks off at the County Ground at 3pm on Boxing Day with Town looking to turn around a poor run of results.

Michael Flynn’s team have won just two of their last 16 matches in all competitions and face off against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday prior to Wrexham’s visit.

The Welsh side currently sit third in the table in comparison to Swindon’s 12th after winning promotion from the National League last campaign.
