Archive photos show the time Coate Water became a winter wonderland during the 1960s.
Snapshots from Swindon Libraries' Local Studies archive show families having fun on the ice as the popular park's lake froze over during the winter of 1963.
People frolicked on the frozen surface until the sun set, making the most of the unusual circumstances while wrapping up warm to cope with the cold.
Another photo from the archive suggests that similarly frosty conditions led to the lake freezing over on another occasion during the 1980s, though the exact date is not clear.
