A restaurant on one of Swindon's busiest shopping streets has closed down and been listed to lease just months after opening.

Burger restaurant Stax and Snax opened on Regent Street in June 2023, but appears to have already closed, and has been listed on the market to lease.

Earlier this week, the shutters were down and phone line was not being answered, whilst its listing on Google Maps marks it as temporarily closed.

'To let' signs have also appeared in the windows, whilst a sign reading 'we're closed' has appeared on its website.

The restaurant offered a variety of both hot and cold food with burgers and sandwiches on the menu as well as a variety of shakes and sides.

The 1,722 square feet premises at 21 and 22 Regent Street are available to prospective business owners who are willing to pay £50,000 per year in rent.

All mains services are connected to the property which is available to let on a new FRI lease for a term to be agreed.

Included is a large serving counter as well as a storeroom and fully fitted kitchen with rear access for deliveries via Edgeware Road.

The mid-terrace, ground floor restaurant offers an open-plan dining area and a prominent display window.

It is suitable for any restaurant or alternative use subject to any planning consent required being approved.

The news of Stax and Snax's closure comes after its disappointing hygiene inspection on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Swindon Borough Council’s Environmental Health Team were far from impressed with the conditions of the eatery, handing it a lowly two-out-of-five hygiene score.

The report deemed that “improvement [was] necessary” regarding the restaurant’s cleanliness and condition of both the building and facilities.

This refers to Stax & Snax having the appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Both the hygienic handling of food and management of food safety at the location were classed as only being generally satisfactory rather than good.

This refers to the restaurant’s preparation and cooking of food as well as evidence that staff know about food safety and that checks are in place to ensure the food served is safe to eat.

The brand's other destination, which is located in Andover, also appears to have suddenly closed.
