The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.

BLUNSDON: Marie L’Estrange, of Fortuna Road, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 44-year-old drove a Honda Civic along Cheney Manor Road on June 7, 2022, when the proportion of a controlled drug, namely Benzoylecgonine in her blood, namely greater than 200 micrograms of drug per litre of blood, exceeded the specified limit.

She has been banned from driving for one year, fined £250, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £34 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Janek Kasemets, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Citroen Berlingo along the M4 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in their breath, namely 100  microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 24 months, fined £800, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £320 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Na’ill Noormohamed, of Lancaster Road in Ealing, has been sentenced for driving offences.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Honda Type R along the M4 near Chippenham on July 7, 2022, whilst unfit to drive through drink, and without insurance or a valid licence.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 16 months, fined £200, and ordered to pay £60 in court costs plus £80 to fund victim services.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Rosemary Cousins, of Blain Place, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 58-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan Qashqai along High Street on November 15, 2022, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath, namely 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

She has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £300, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and £120 to fund victim services.

TOWN CENTRE: Michael McDonagh, of East Street, has been sentenced for burglary of a dwelling with intent to steal.

The 45-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to entering a dark grey Peugeot Boxer campervan in the station car park on Station Road on May 31, 2023, with intent to steal.

He has been jailed for eight weeks due to the seriousness of the offence and because the defendant "has a flagrant disregard for people and their property".

There was no order for court costs.

NYTHE: Shane Church, of St Ives Court, has been sentenced for racially-aggravated common assault.

The 47-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to beating a man in Swindon and the offence was racially-aggravated.

He has been fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £120 to fund victim services.

CHIPPENHAM: Barry Payne, of Rowden Hill in Chippenham, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus along the A350 Lacock on November 16, 2022, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £200, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £80 to fund victim services.

MELKSHAM: Lorna Turk, of Hampshire Place, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 56-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Astra along Blackmore Road whilst unfit to drive through drink on November 20, 2022.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 16 months, fined £200, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £80 to fund victim services.
