Hundreds of people across Swindon and Wiltshire remain without power after disruption caused by Storm Isha.

Areas around the county are without electricity after strong winds caused damage to power lines.

The largest affected area covers Urchfont and Wedhampton, where 210 people have been without power since around 7.30pm on Sunday, January 21.

It is expected this outage will be dealt with by 2pm on Monday.

A further 155 people at Gastard, Corsham, are also due to be without power until 2pm.

The lights are also out in parts of Upper Stratton in Swindon, in Bradford on Avon, on the outskirts of Royal Wootton Bassett, between Dauntsey and Brinkworth, and at Gore Cross near Imber.

SSEN engineers were unable to attend outages overnight due to the “unsafe” weather conditions but are now working at locations across the county.

A spokesperson for SSEN said: “We’re very sorry for the power cut. As you’ll know, Storm Isha is bringing harsh weather conditions across much of the country and this weather is causing damage to our power lines.

“With strong wind speeds like this, trees and debris can hit our lines and then this causes your power to go off.

“We know this is a long time without power and promise we’re doing everything in our control to get the lights back on.”
