The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this month.

WICHELSTOWE: Sweeptech Environmental Services, of Crown Lane in Maidenhead, has been sentenced for three offences.

The business pleaded guilty to attaching a pipe and apparatus to a water main without Thames Water’s consent on March 16, March 17, and April 4, 2023.

It received three £50 fines and must pay £160 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Craig Parmenter, of no fixed abode, has been jailed for shoplifting.

The 36-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to stealing goods worth £26 and £146.55 from a Co-op in Swindon on January 14, 2024, shoplifting more items worth £187,90 from the supermarket on January 16, 2024, and committing another theft of goods worth £50.95 from the same shop on January 18, 2024.

He has been jailed for 16 weeks – four weeks per charge - because he targeted high value goods, returned to the same shop, was on licence at the time of the offences, and has a flagrant disregard for court orders, people, and their property.

Parmenter must also pay £20 in compensation.

FRESHBROOK: Oliver Puleston, of Gainsborough Way, has been sentenced for failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to failing without reasonable excuse to give a blood sample to police during the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence on July 26, 2023, after being suspected of driving a vehicle.

He has been banned from driving for 36 months, fined £80, and received a community order that requires him to carry out up to 20 rehab activity days.

The defendant must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £114 to fund victim services.

GORSE HILL: Ryan Taylor, of Caulfield Road, has been sentenced for theft from a shop and assault by beating.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man in Swindon on October 13, 2023, and indicated pleas of guilty to three charges of theft.

He stole food worth £1.25 from the Iceland supermarket on October 13, 2023, took alcohol worth £30 from the same shop on July 30, and shoplifted £20 worth of alcohol from Sainsbury’s in Swindon on July 24, 2023.

A new community order requires him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, attend 19 Thinking Skills sessions and up to 20 rehab activity days, and pay £85 in court costs.

REDHOUSE: Megan Cleaver, of Packington Close, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to driving an Abarth 595 along Eldene Drive on December 14, 2022, when the proportion of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in her blood - namely greater than 7.0 micrograms of drug per litre of blood - exceeded the specified limit.

She has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £166, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £66 to fund victim services.

MANNINGTON: Mario Youde, of Wootton Bassett Road, has been sentenced for thefts from a shop.

The 39-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to four charges after he stole two bottles of alcohol worth £37.47 from B&M in Swindon on September 19, 2023, took confectionery from the Brunel Shopping Centre Boots and two bottles of alcohol from M&S on October 21, 2023, and stole products worth £35 from Iceland in Cricklade on October 23, 2023.

He received a community order that requires him to attend 12 sessions of mental health treatment, spend 12 months in a care home or hospital, and carry out up to 15 rehab activity days, as well as pay £20 in compensation.
