A woman has died after a crash between her car and a lorry near Stonehenge.

The A303 remains closed after the crash on the morning of January 23.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway near Stonehenge shortly before 10am.

The female driver of the car, a woman in her 60s from Bath, died at the scene.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specialist trained officer. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."

The driver of the HGV that was also involved in the crash was uninjured.

A closure was put in place at the Countess roundabout and Longbarrow roundabout. This remains in place at this time while officers investigate the scene.

Police are also seeking any potential witnesses to the incident to come forward and help with their ongoing enquiries

The spokesperson added: "Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage should call 101 or email SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk."

Last month a man in his 40s died in a lorry crash on the same road, and in July 2023, an 11-year-old boy was killed, again in a crash with a lorry.
