A playpark is almost set to reopen after refurbishment to make it more accessible for Swindon families.

Work to transform the Trent Road field play area began in November last year and was set to cost £70,000.

Haydon Wick Parish Council is responsible for the park and drew up the plans which will retain some of the current equipment but will also expand it to include a basket swing, play panels, an accessible roundabout, wet pour graphics and a wide slide.

Now, after over two months of work, the local authority has confirmed that the park is almost ready to reopen to the public.

A spokesperson said: "Great progress is being made on the Trent Road Field Play Area refurbishment and we hope that it will be open for you all to enjoy by February half term.

"The existing equipment has remained and the play area has been expanded to accommodate new accessible friendly equipment such as a basket swing, a roundabout, a double width slide and some interactive play panels.

"We hope you are just as excited about the new play area as we are! In the meantime, watch this space for more updates on the refurbishment and details of the planned opening event."
