A 22-year-old says it is a "proud achievement" as she prepares to celebrate the first anniversary of becoming the manager of a Swindon sports bar.
Jaime Aldred from Freshbrook became the manager at The Kop Bar on Victoria Road in May of last year.
After eight months she is loving the job and has found a new niche with holding various events at the bar.
“It has been really good and I really enjoy the socialising side of it especially,” said Jamie.
“It has a great atmosphere as it is quite intimate and cosy with lots of different people interacting with each other.
“We hold lots of events which are always lots of fun including local boxing press conferences and we also have our karaoke nights which you can’t go wrong with.
“There’s always a mixed bag of things on offer here which is what keeps people coming back.”
The 22-year-old is enjoying life at the bar and has no intention of moving on anytime soon.
“It is a proud achievement to be my age and already be a bar manager and although there is a lot of pressure, it is in a good way,” she said.
“I think it is a big responsibility but I am fit for the challenge but it’s good fun, I like what I do and I really enjoy it.
“I’d like to think people agree and come in here and have a good time.
“One day it would be nice to own my very own bar but I like what I do at the moment and I don’t plan on changing anytime soon.”
The Kop originally opened in October 2022 and business has grown throughout its first year according to owner Sadik Ali.
“It is a sports bar for everybody and we welcome everyone no matter the team they support,” he said.
“We are getting known now and it is better than what I thought it would be after a year.”
The team are aiming for an even bigger 2024 and hope to welcome more new faces into the bar as the months go by.
“We already have quite a few private hires booked in and I encourage people to pop in, have a drink and you’ll be back,” said Sadik.
Jaime added: “We want to have more events this year but we have found our niche so we just hope to cater for everyone in 2024.”
