A Swindon resident has launched a campaign to reopen a Swindon pub and music venue.

Daniel Roe, founder of Real Music UK music agency, is hoping to take over the recently boarded-up Rolleston Arms pub and adjacent Underground music venue.

The entrepreneur is hoping to take over the running of the town centre venue via his business but if he is unable to he intends to find a suitable partner to run the venue day-to-day.

To help bring the pub back to life, he has set up a GoFundMe page and is urging the Swindon public to get behind his efforts - and to part with his cash a little. It can be found at https://gofund.me/16e5fa55

"Our vision is to create a community hub for art, music and creativity in Swindon - a place for performers, for artists, for networking and of course to relax, have a drink and eat food.

"We aim to build a sustainable venue that lasts long-term, attracting larger artists and music lovers from across the South-West."

Former Wetherspoons manager Daniel Harrison took over The Rolleston Arms and Level 3 in February 2023 after it was placed up for sale in August 2022 by previous owner Violet McLaren.

But despite renaming the music side the Underground and revealing grand plans to eventually do up the front of the pub, he seems to now have left.

Then, in January 2024, the building on Commercial Road was boarded up with metal sheeting and an advert was placed on the brewery owner Stonegate's website asking for a new landlord.

Daniel added: "Your funds will be used to pay staff, pay rent, buy stock and invest in the venue to keep it open. If for any reason we cannot continue with the project, we will let you know and return the donation.

"Donate now to join the movement and keep our venue alive, and get a free drink on us."
