The average cost of parking in Swindon has been revealed and the town is more expensive than a host of nearby cities.

Data from Parkopedia shows the average cost of parking in Swindon town centre or Old Town for two hours is £3.29 on a weekday.

These numbers would place Swindon 31st on a list of the 76 most expensive places to park in the UK, compiled by Cashfloat, above several nearby tourist hotspots.

On average, it costs more to park in Swindon than it does in Bath (£2.88), parts of Cardiff (£2.92), Gloucester (£2.66), and Salisbury (£2.57).

Bristol is significantly more expensive with an average price of £5.37.

Swindon’s average is increased by the cost of the two train station car parks, which are the most expensive places to park in the town on a weekday.

On a typical weekday, it costs £10 to leave your car in Swindon Station West Car Park or Swindon Station Main Car Park for two hours.

Other particularly expensive spots include Signal Point (£8) and The Great Western Hotel (£6).

The cheapest car park in Swindon, included in Parkopedia data, is 20 at the Kings which costs just £1 for two hours.

This is closely followed by Prospect Place, Bath Road, Britannia Place, and The Planks, all of which charge just £1.10.
