The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.

SWINDON: Vijayswar Gauchan, of Padstow Road, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man on November 10, 2023. He has been ordered to pay £100 in compensation and £85 in court costs.

SWINDON: Frederick Moulton, of Queens Drive, has been sentenced for attempted theft.

The 56-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to trying to steal construction machinery belonging to a contracting company in Swindon on October 14, 2023.

He received an £80 fine and a community order that requires him to carry out up to 30 rehab activity days and pay £85 in court costs.

HIGHWORTH: Jason Mumford, of Lismore Road, has been sentenced for two offences.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to beating a woman, punching a hole in her wall and breaking her mirror on October 23, 2023.

He has been fined £346 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

CALNE: Alaya Sparkes, of Shelburne Road, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Golf along New Road in Calne after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath, namely 46 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

She has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £276, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £110 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Myles Gooden, of Rushey Platt in Swindon, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 28-year-old drove a Vauxhall Astra between Junctions 16 and 17 of the M4 at more than 70mph on April 18, 2023.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence and a £230 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs as well as £92 to fund victim services.

MARLBOROUGH: Alex Roach, of Broadfields in Pewsey, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 40-year-old used a handheld mobile phone while behind the wheel of a BMW 335D on Pewsey Road in Marlborough on April 29, 2023.

He has been banned from driving for six months, fined £166, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs as well as £66 to fund victim services.

MELKSHAM: Russell Greenman, of Gaston Farm in Holt, near Trowbridge, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Land Rover along the A350 Hampton Park on May 13, 2023, when he was in a position where he could not have proper control of the vehicle.

He received three penalty points on his driving licence and must pay a £72 fine as well as £29 to fund victim services.

CHIPPENHAM: Vincent Delany, of Hill Rise, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Zafira along County Road in Swindon on January 14, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 17 months, fined £440, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £176 to fund victim services.

GREAT CHEVERELL: Aston Dobson, of Green Lane, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 38-year-old drove an Audi A5 Sport along the A360 in Tilshead at more than 30mph on August 30, 2023.

He has been fined £499, banned from driving for 56 days, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs plus £200 to fund victim services.
