The former Co-op on Rodbourne Road has been stripped bare of all signage after ending its 110-plus years of serving Swindon locals.

The store on the corner of Hawkins Street, which has been a permanent fixture in the Rodbourne area of Swindon for over a century, closed its doors for the last time on Saturday, February 3.

Now photos taken after its closure show that all of the Co-op branding and signage has already been stripped from the store, leaving it bare for the first time in a very long time.

There is also a sign outside informing people that the store is now closed.

It reads: "Customer notice. The store will be closing on Saturday 3rd February at 5pm.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and would like to thank our customers and members for their continued support.

"Your nearest stores are Groundwell Road, Swindon, SN1 2LY and High Street, Old Town, Swindon, SN1 3EG.

"Thank you for your understanding."

When the store closed, some of the staff took to social media to share their goodbyes, one said: "It's been a pleasure & loved everyone there and all our customers."

Another added: "Loved every minute with everyone."

Midcounties Co-op confirmed that staff have been moved to another Co-op or will be retained by the store's new owners when it reopens.

The store has been bought by new owners who intend to keep it as an independent convenience store.
