The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this month.

TOWN CENTRE: Ismaheel Haruna, of Newcastle Street, has been sentenced for two driving offences.

The 29-year-old drove a Ford Focus on Carfax Street without insurance or a valid licence on June 18, 2023.

He has been banned from driving for 28 days, fined £400, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs as well as £160 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Jamie Avery, of Avocet Way in Bicester, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 33-year-old drove a Kia Evo along the M4 near Swindon at more than 70mph on May 9. 2023.

He has been banned from driving for 28 days, fined £530, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs as well as £212 to fund victim services.

CALNE: Philip Neale, of Bremhill View, has been sentenced for drunk and disorderly behaviour.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened on Oxford Road in Calne on January 19, 2024.

MOTORWAY: Alexander Halsey, of Station Road in Manea, Cambridgeshire, has been sentenced for driving without due care and attention.

The 43-year-old entered no plea to the offence, which involved an Audi Q3 on the M4 near Swindon on July 10, 2023, and magistrates proved him guilty of it in his absence.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence and a £293 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs as well as £117 to fund victim services.

WANBOROUGH: Mihaita Albu, of Seaforth Gardens in Stoneleigh, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 33-year-old changed his plea from not guilty to guilty regarding a charge of driving a BMW 350 GT on Wanborough Road on April 8, 2023 when the light emitted through the front driver and passenger windows was below the legal limit, so its use involved a danger of injury to any person.

He has been fined £72 and ordered to pay £29 to fund victim services. He did not receive any penalty points or driving disqualification as the court found that he had been misled into thinking that tinted windows were legal, and his car had an MOT and warranty.

SWINDON: Michael Keenan, of Naas Lane in Brookthorpe, Gloucestershire, has been sentenced for an offence.

The 33-year-old entered no plea to the charge, but it was proved in his absence that he failed to give information when required to police in Swindon on July 4, 2023, about the driver of a Hyundai Tucson who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence and a £660 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs.

MOTORWAY: Robert Prince, of Park House Road in Trellech, Monmouthshire, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 57-year-old drove a BMW 730D between Junctions 16 and 17 of the M4 at more than 70mph on April 14, 2023.

He has been disqualified from driving for 28 days, fined £1,666, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs as well as £666 to fund victim services.

He received a £116 fine and must also pay £85 in court costs and £46 to fund victim services.

DEVIZES: Phillip Newman, of Waterside Park, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 49-year-old drove a Volkswagen Transporter panel van along the A4361 in Avebury at more than 30mph on June 22, 2023.

He has been banned from driving for 56 days, fined £461, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs as well as £184 to fund victim services.
